Recreation Leader I – Part Time

The ideal candidate will be interested in working a fast paced, fun, and customer service facing position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to park guests.
  • Assist with daily park operations and program activities.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces.
  • Supervise the Roundhouse indoor play area to ensure guest safety and positive experiences.
  • Support train ride operations by assisting with guest boarding, unloading, and ride procedures.
  • Engage museum visitors by sharing information about the park’s railroad history and exhibits.
  • Promote a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for guests of all ages.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Recreation Leader II – Full Time – Special Events

Be part of the team that keeps the magic on track at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.

We are looking for a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Recreation Leader II to join our Special Events team. As the Valley’s premier destination for family fun, the Railroad Park hosts five major annual community events, including our signature Spook-Track-Ula and the award-winning Holiday Lights, which run nightly from October through December. This full-time role plays a central part in planning, coordinating, setting up, executing, and tearing down these large-scale events that keep our community’s excitement chugging along year after year.

  • Plan, coordinate, set up, execute, and tear down large-scale special events.
  • Lead event logistics to ensure successful, high-quality guest experiences.
  • Support daily park operations and assist with train and carousel activities.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and identify operational needs.
  • Prepare and submit facility work orders for maintenance and repairs.
  • Design, build, maintain, and store event props, signage, and décor.
  • Utilize physical and digital tools to support event planning and operations.
  • Collaborate with park staff to ensure efficient event execution and daily operations.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to changing operational and event needs.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to support the park’s special events schedule.

Recreation Leader II – Steam Engine – Part Time

The Recreation Leader II – Steam Engine position plays a key role in delivering that experience by supporting the daily operation of steam and diesel locomotives, assisting with railroad ride activities, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for guests throughout the park.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for railroading with a willingness to learn more about the park’s railroad history and experience in:

  • Operating steam locomotive equipment
  • Operating diesel locomotives or other related heavy equipment
  • Using tools and performing minor mechanical adjustments during operations
  • Working with a dynamic customer base and adapting to busy, guest-focused environment
  • Connecting with supervisors, teammates, and guests in person or through radio, phone, or messages
  • Monitoring safety practices and enforcing park rules while ensuring high-quality customer service
